With the theme announced, tickets purchased, and the event scheduled for the following day, Spring Tolo was cancelled; causing confusion for the 19 couples who had already purchased their tickets.

“[Freshman Officers] weren’t organized, and they didn’t get their work done,” said leadership advisor Daren Dollemore.

The freshman officers seemed to have everything together. In reality, decorations had not even been prepared. The backdrop for pictures was only going to be a sheet. Other than decorations and a backdrop for pictures, not much is left to plan. Funny how even the smallest things like getting chaperones were too much work for the freshmen class officers to handle.

Officers claimed they weren’t told that advisors are mandatory for a dance. Also, they neglected to get chaperones. It’s common knowledge by the student body, chaperones are required for a dance to be approved.

In the past, Spring Tolo hasn’t been an official event. Students are left guessing whether or not it will actually take place. The question on many people’s minds relates to who is helping the freshman class, and are they mature enough to handle the responsibility?

Think about it; freshmen are only 14 or 15 years old, they are still trying to get used to high school. Four years ago, my class thought the work load was too much. The freshmen this year can’t be much different from the class of 2009.

It is ridiculous to give the freshman class such a huge task. They continue to show the upper classmen that tolo isn’t a priority to them by procrastinating, and not asking for help.
