Jills Plate 10 Runs in Shut-out Against MM

RAL ace Baily Harris allowed no runs and only two hits in a demoralizing victory over cross-town rival Mark Morris. Harris had no walks and managed to strike out ten batters. She was backed by an almost flawless defense, which only had one error during the entire game.

“It feels awesome to shut them (MM) out. We’ve only lost to MM once during my high school career so it’s always nice to be able to pound them again,” said Harris 12.

Harris’s phenomenal pitching performance wasn’t the only factor that played in the RAL rampage. The Jills brought their bats to the diamond, knocking 14 hits off the Lady Monarchs and implementing the ten-run mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth.

“We worked really hard in the batting cage all week before the game, which allowed us to hit well,” said Harris.

After plating three runs in the first inning and another three in the fifth, the Jills secured the win in the bottom of the sixth by scoring four runs off of five hits.

The sixth inning rally was launched by a lead off double by Christina Driscoll. After the Lady Monarchs managed to secure two quick outs, RAL fired back by scoring Driscoll off an Averi Bogner single.

Kiana Mawae was then able to plate Bogner off a deep double to left-center field, and the next batter, Baily Harris, traded places with her with a bouble of her own.

Harris did not stay at second base for long, however, before Tara Haas singled up the middle to score her and the winning run for the Jills.

Harris was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs scored, a triple, and a double. Mawae was also 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and a double. Haas and Kaylie Dobbins both had two hits each for the Lumberjills, who are now 8-1, and 6-0 in league.
