JV and Freshman Baseball Slaughter MM

It appears that RAL baseball’s domination over the “mighty” Monarchs will continue to thrive. Following suit behind varsity, the two younger teams bagged two wins each against the cross-town rival.

JV won 5-3 in the first game after Nick Brill managed to throw four innings for the Jacks, giving up no runs and only one hit. RAL trailed the Monarchs by one run in the fifth inning however a two-out Jack rally allowed them to take the lead. Tyler VonDracek hit an RBI single to tie the game, followed by a two-run single by Kersey Krieger.

Josh Johnson and Jesse Gomez pitched for the Jacks during the second game which ended in a 6-4 RAL victory. Tanner Chamberlain led the Jacks’ offensively with two hits, an RBI, and a double.

JV, which is now 11-1, 10-0 in league, is sitting pretty for a league championship.

The freshman team completely destroyed the Monarchs in both games. Alex Pickett threw for the Jacks during the first match, allowing six runs while the Jacks scored 17. Offensive leaders for RAL included Cody Hollinger and Trey Solon who both came out with two hits each.

Tyler Hoagman threw for the Jacks during the second game and limited the Monarchs to four runs in a 14-4 RAL blowout. Daniel Harmon led the RAL offense with two hits and four RBIs, while Alex Pickett and Thomas Pitts each had doubles.

The freshman team which is now 7-2 has competed against very talented schools outside RAL’s league, such as Kelso, Evergreen, LaSalle, and Timberline. They show great potential for the future
