School records dropped like flies Thursday April, 23 2009 as Andrew Galloway 11 set a new standard in the high jump with a jump of 6’4 ½”, and Rachael Washington 11 leaped 34’2” in the girl’s triple jump. Both won those events respectively.
Galloway’s performance helped boost the Jacks to71-59 win over the Washougal Panthers. Unfortunately, on the girl’s side Washington could not win the whole meet by herself, as the Jills lost a close one, 76-74.
“Rachael did an amazing job today. It all just came together for her today. Her training is definitely paying off,” said jumping Coach Keli Davenport.
Kody Cassidy 11 had a great day and won the 200 meter sprint (24.39) followed by a win at the pole vault pit (13’). He also won the 100 m sprint (11.44). Aside from Galloway’s winning performance in the high jump, he also captured first place in the long jump (19’7”).
Most throwing events were also won by RAL as usual. Angelo Folz-Edwards 11 tossed a 135’8 ½” to earn a first place, and Arie Cottrell 12 remained undefeated for the season with a 51’8” shot put launch.
In distance events, Nathan Richards 11 claimed the win in the 3200 m run with a time of 10:40.
For the Jill’s, Danie Eggleston 9 won the girls 3200 (12:21) and the 1600 (5:48). Shauni Harding 11 claimed two events as well, as she won the 100 m (13.41) and the 200m (28.32).
Tirzah Coalman 11 had a good day in the discus throw as she captured first place with a toss of 94”10.
