Woodshop Competition

April 17, 2009

R.A.L woodshop students competed in a cabinet making contest sponsored by Skills USA at Evergreen High school in Vancouver March 17th to determine which students would precede on to state.

The competitors were asked to construct mantle clocks and had six hours to do so. The winners were judged on the quality of the product.

“I’m glad I placed at the competition and I look forward to state,” Folz-Edwards said.

Some of our very own R.A. Long students placed at the competition. Brian Jackson 11 won first place, Evan Seidle 10 third and Angelo Folz-Edwards 11 fourth.

“I think we all did the best we could and I think we’re pretty satisfied with the results,” Brian Jackson 11 said. “And I’m really happy I got first.”

Jackson, Seidle, and Folz-Edwards will travel to state held in Yakima April 8th through 11th where they will be presented with an object to build and five hours to construct it.

“I’m proud of my students and hope they do well at state in April,” Mr. Gruber, the woodshop teacher, said.
