Cinco de Mayo

The smell of homemade tacos, salsa, and milk cake filled the teachers lounge May 5 during both lunches, as well as fiesta music and the Multi-cultural Club.

The MC club held a party to celebrate the Mexican culture for Cinco De Mayo. They played pin the tail on the donkey and swung at the pinata.

“My favorite part was the Mexican candy filled pinata because we got wild,” said Angelique Nolan 10.

The MC Club got a kick out of Ms. McElroy because she couldn’t help but to dance the whole time. Herself and Ms. Beltz were the chaperons of the party which consisted of the 34 club members and even Ms. Hudson and Woodard stopped by.

“Our club is about being together and making a positive, ethnic impact on our school and community,” said McElroy “We learn about peoples background and culture.”

The club isn’t just for Hispanics, but African Americas, Native Americans, Jamaicans, Italians, and even Caucasians.

“It was very exciting to celebrate our culture at our fiesta,” said Bryant Santana 12.

The MC Club helps out by cleaning up litter scattered throughout in and outside of  RAL. They are also hosting an assembly on May 14 for incoming freshmen to welcome and inform them about high school activities.
