MC Pumpkin Patch Trip: Haunting Senior Citizens

The month of October was a month of giving for the MC Club. They picked out one by one the best round, juicy, and the most orange pumpkins they could find, and gave them to the elderly.

 “ Even though it was cold, rainy, and muddy we all had fun, and we all had the satisfaction of having the good feeling of fun and helping others,” Ms. McElroy said.

 “It was fun but it was kind of creepy. When we went to Hospice, I got trapped inside. There was like no one inside and I was kind of scared, but we got through it and had great success because that’s just what I do,” said Eduardo Santana 11.

Most of the kids became rather muddy before they went home. They even had a mother of one of the kid’s slip right off of the hay ride. When you would try to pick up a pumpkin you had to be careful because you could fall.

Not many students attended due to the unfortunate rain and wind.

“Twelve out of thirty from first lunch went, and one out of thirty from second lunch went. Even though there were only twelve kids there they were all having fun,” said Ms. McElroy.

“I had a lot of fun with the MC Club members, although it was really cold,” said Maribel Lopez 12.

The pumpkins were round and juicy, ripe for the giving to the pumpkin deprived.

“We got the pumpkins from the Willow grove sweet corn and pumpkin patch,” said Ms. McElroy. It was all for the great feeling inside, to give to the elderly!

“Well some of the kids that went had never done this before. They had never gone to a pumpkin patch let alone carve a pumpkin. We also did the activity for new experience, fun activities, and especially for the community,” said Miss. McElroy. “They have so much fun in here and everyone who is in the club enjoys it very much.”

For November, the MC Club will donate canned foods, and other needed supplies such as socks, blankets, and personal hygiene for the Battered Women Shelter. Since it is a month of giving they want to give supplies to the people who need it the most.
