French Club Fundraising: France Trip
December 7, 2009

French Club has undertaken numerous fundraising activities recently for future expenses. They are now actively looking ahead in planning other fundraising events in order to accumulate enough money to fund students’ trips overseas.
On November 10, Parent Teacher night, French Club decided to set up a Crepe Booth outside of Madame Ditewig’s classroom.
During RAL’s Junior Carnival, they also organized a booth with a Beret Toss.
These two events are just a couple of examples of this club’s dedication to allow their members to participate in a rare learning experience.
The opportunity to travel over seas is an extraordinary and expensive privilege. Most of the money earned by these fund raisers is going towards the French III students and a couple of French II students who are planning on taking some trips to France this coming summer.
These trips are organized through the ISE program. The program allows students to stay with a host family in France for a period of three weeks, which creates a real life scenario of what French life is like. The International Students Exchange program is a non-profit organization designed to allow foreign students to experience the “American way of Life” through living with a volunteer host family in the U.S.
Also students from America are able to do the same in 55 different counties around the world. The goal of ISE is to promote world peace and unity through a life time of learning experience.
The French Club is still hoping to earn more money towards these trips, and, in doing so, have a few unique plans for future fund-raising. One of their plans is to host a fun-run such like the annual “Turkey Trot” at Lake Sacajawea. This fun-run will be more French themed and will be called “The Running of the Berets”. If arranged, French Club hopes the run also will be held at Lake Sacajawea.
“The date hasn’t been set yet, since it will require a lot of planning” said Jane Forman 11. Forman is part of the group going to France this Summer.
