Diets and Workouts: Common New Years Resolutions

Every year when that clock strikes midnight on December 31st, all over the World, people are kissing and making resolutions. Some resolutions are crazy and wild, and some resolutions, people actually plan on carrying out.

Many resolutions end in a few weeks when people get back into their regular schedules, and their ridiculous resolutions get thrown right out the window. There is a way, however, to make your resolutions realistic and actually make them happen.

“New Years resolutions are pointless and no on ever sticks to them,” Crystal Garrison 11 said .

The key is to keep the resolution simple, make it something that is actually attainable given your personal schedule. Trying to make a resolution that you don’t have the time to achieve is pointless. Also, trying to come up with a resolution that causes a drastic change in your life will never happen.

The resolution needs to be something that you can slowly work into your daily schedule and one that fits your individual personality. Try to slowly work up to your goal; don’t just jump right into it. A lot of people make goals to cut back or to quit doing something they currently do.

“I plan to cut back on my fast food eating,” Kylee McGeary 11 said .

The best way for McGeary to achieve her goal is to slowly cut back from her daily amount; not to completely cut it out cold turkey. The goal is achievable, but it’s one that takes some time and getting used to.

Some people however, make goals knowing they are not achievable.

“My New Years resolution is no men in ’10,” Sophie Kangas 11 said. “I may be able to do that for a few months, but even all my friends know I won’t be able to keep with this resolution.”

When making a resolution, make one you think you can achieve, and one that will actually help you out in some way. New Years resolutions can be accomplished with some perseverance and realistic thinking.
