MC Club: Helping Fund Pay to Play

The MC Club is going to go out of their way to help raise money for the young and talented athletes in our school who do not have the sufficient funds to pay to play.

The latest idea for the amazing fund raiser is to sell pepperoni sticks to our wonderful community. They will be donating most of the money they raise to the ASB office for people that use the scholarships.

The MC Club has done many fundraisers this school year, but this time they will be helping our teams out a lot. They are going to sell pepperoni for the benefit of other people.

“We are going to try and get the whole club involved because we usually only get a couple of people actually helping,” Maribel Lopez 12 said.

Ms. McElroy and many other members had told everyone in the club that if they did not participate, they would not be able to get the scholarship to play.

We have the potential to have really great sports teams if everyone has the money to pay. Also, a lot of people don’t know that our school has sports scholarships, but they could make or break a team.

“The way I see it, we should all help out because then more kids will be able to play, and our teams will be that much stronger,” Juan Contreras 12 said.

After asking many people in our school about how they felt about the pay to play, about half of the people said it is pointless for our school to charge us to pay to play, because the money will go to a district general fund.

The other half of the people think that paying to play is good because it will help the school district in our economic crises.

“Yes, I believe that pay to play will affect the size of our sports teams, the idea that the MC Club fundraiser has is good because it will help the ones that couldn’t participate in sports because of the money,” JJ Johnson 10 said.

“This will help RAL by giving them a more talented selection of athletes,” Travis Bright 11 said.

The administration thought that the idea of fundraising for the spring was a great idea.
