Here at The Lumberjack Log, we work hard to give you, the RAL student body, news concerning your school and the world around you through quality articles. We work hard but also get rewarded with some play time. The Lumberjack Log staff members were asked a few questions:

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Tom Lee

Favorite “Leadership Management Session” The Blazers Game, sitting so incredibly close to the court.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? Trained me to meet deadlines and develop my leadership skills.

Favorite article that you wrote? My opinion piece on ASB, it caused “a bit” of controversy.

 

Hannah Bennett (2nd year staff member, layout manager and writer)-

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” Spending the night in the school, we all have tons of crazy memories.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? I have learned that I need to be on time…or I’ll have to wash desks.

Favorite article that you wrote? My pro Barack Obama article

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Annie Forman

Favorite memory of LJL? Junior year at the school lock-in when all the senior guys and I ran through metal garbage cans we had stacked up.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The boat house

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has taught me ways to deal with my priorities in a fun and responsible way.

Favorite article that you wrote? Article on lowering the drinking age, I got a lot of feedback

 

Britton Baker (1st year staff member, writer)

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Tom Lee

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” Staying the night in the school. Being able to roam the RAL halls in the dark was pretty awesome.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has taught me how to write and edit papers quickly and efficiently.

Favorite article that you wrote? The diversity article on MM

 

Kyle Helem (2nd year staff member, sports editor, writer)

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Ben Soleim and Mr. Fajardo

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The Lacrosse game because we ate good food and it was pretty cool watching Lacrosse. Sledding because we had a lot of fun.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has trained me to work well in a group, meet deadlines, and be a leader.

Favorite article that you wrote? Article on how Mr. Frost affected our dances

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Katie M. Gosch

What was your favorite thing about LJL? Donuts in the mornings, fun activities we did, and Fajardo’s interpretive dances.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The lock-in, going to Coldstone with the losers of capture the flag dressed up in embarrassing costumes, and being scared to death by Senorita Johnson.

Favorite article that you wrote? Opinion article on generation, I received good and bad feedback.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The sleepover, playing capture the flag and other crazy games.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? I have learned how to work on a deadline and how to write a quality news article.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The sleepover, because we had a lot of fun and I got to sleep in the school with my best friends!

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has prepared me with tips on interviewing people.

Favorite article that you wrote? My bowling articles, I liked going to the meets.

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Myself

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” Staying the night in the school because we got to play a bunch of games and I powned everyone at Wii Boxing.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has prepared me by teaching me how to extract the truth out of people when interviewing.

Favorite article that you wrote? Well I mostly wrote band articles, so I suppose band.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has taught me discipline and how to reach a deadline.

What was your favorite thing about LJL? Donuts, writing, NOT cleaning desks when I was tardy, and the “Leadership Management Sessions”

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It had prepared me to deal with situations I’m not used to, like writing woodshop articles.

Favorite article that you wrote? MM’s bad sportsmanship on the court article.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” Staying the night in the school because we did human bowling with garbage cans.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has taught me to be a better writer.

Alyssa Ball (1st year staff member, writer)

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Hannah Bennett

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” Staying the night in the school because it was hilarious and we had a lot of fun.

Why did you join LJL? Because I want to be a reporter when I’m older and it’s very good experience.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has taught me the skills required to be a good reporter and writer.

Favorite article that you wrote? MM’s bad sportsmanship off the court article.

 

Chelsey Hulsey (1st year staff member, writer, copy editor)

Who encouraged you to join Lumberjack Log? Kelsey Craft but mostly I just wanted to be on Lumberjack Log. Tom also probably nudged me about it.

What was your favorite “Leadership Management Session?” The Blazer’s game even though they lost. Hannah and I had fun playing TextTwist during the Hawaiian flower van ride. Staying in the school was also really cool.

How has LJL prepared you for the future? It has definitely helped me prepare for the future with mandatory deadlines. If your article wasn’t finished it didn’t make it into the issue which I think is a pretty valuable lesson that thankfully I didn’t have to learn the hard way.

Favorite article that you wrote? The SuperBowl Advertising one. The topic was interesting to research because it’s just one of those things that people don’t really think about.
